We weren’t doing structural renovation, so we didn’t need stamped plans, but we did need a plan.

We asked an architect friend for help thinking through layouts, and he was kind enough to give us a ton of help and drawings of potential floorplans, and because of his creativity, we were able to finalize a layout for the house.

Our biggest goals for the renovation were: 1) Remove the shotgun-style pass through the bedrooms 2) Move the kitchen forward into the public space 3) Gain two bedrooms and two bathrooms on the owner’s side while leaving a one bedroom, one bath apartment unit.
